In 2007 Joe L. Carter recorded the theme song to the documentary, The Water Front, after learning how so many poor people were affected by water policies in Highland Park, Michigan. Please Mr. Waterman is his dedication to the people in Highland Park and the individuals fighting to defend the rights of the poor and water as a human right.

The original song is a 4/4 blues, but I wanted to turn it into a true blues song, so I rearranged it into a 3/4 time signature, allowing this mix to be a bit normal than the original version. No rapping over it, I felt the song was perfect as is but I wanted to bring it into my world. The name of the mix "Wai Ola" is Hawaiian for "The Water Of Life", for without water, there's no life.
