The Water Front screened at student led Film Festival in Detroit, Michigan, Dec. 1, 2009

On December 1, 2009, high school students from the Brother Rice Global Action Debate Team screened The Water Front at the first Detroit Wild and Scenic Film Festival for environmental awareness. The Brother Rice Global Action Debate Team held the film festival as part of the team’s third year of participation in the renowned United Nations Foundation’s Global Debates Program. This program challenges high school students from around the world to think critically on pressing global issues.
The Brother Rice Global Action Debate Team invited over 100 area middle school students to screen several environmental films and speak with invited guests. After the screening of The Water Front, students held a discussion with Highland Park Council Member, Christopher Woodard and the film’s associate producer, Curtis Smith. The students were encouraged to not only become aware of local environmental issues, but more importantly to become change agents in their communities.
Brother Rice High School is a male Catholic college preparatory high school located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
